The Scars of a Purple Heart
CHESTER, S.C. (CN2 NEWS) The Purple Heart Award is almost as old as America, and was started by George Washington in 1782. It’s awarded to veterans who shed blood in combat. Veterans who have a purple heart know the small token carries a heavy weight of memories. Tonight, a Vietnam War Veteran sharing his story of how his time in Vietnam left both mental and physical scars. BLUE STAR MOTHERS
Mothers volunteered throughout the times of World War II. They worked in hospitals and train stations, packed care packages for soldiers, and were a working part of homeland security during times of war. O January 6th, 1960, the 86th Congress of the United States officially enacted the National Charter of the Blue Star Mothers of America, Inc.
Blue Star Mothers of America, Inc. provides support for military personnel, promotes patriotism, assists Veterans organizations, and assists in homeland volunteer efforts to help our country remain strong.
